Over President's Day weekend we took a trip down to Las Vegas. We drove down arriving on Thursday evening and stayed until Tuesday morning. My sister Maureen and her family drove up from California and met us there. It was fun to get to spend some time with them. Callie loved playing with her cousins. We wish that they lived closer so we could see them more!
On Friday we went to a National Park called Red Rocks. There was a 14 mile loop that you could drive through with many different hiking trails along the way. We chose to stop at one that was labeled easy/moderate that was only about 1 mile round trip. Jace decided that this would be a good time to take a nap so luckily I had my carrier with me.
Callie, Haylee and Bianca had a lot of fun hiking and climbing around on the rocks.
They called themselves the "Pink Jacket Club"
Saturday evening we went bowling. Las Vegas is not the most kids friendly place. They didn't have ramps and the lightest ball was 9lbs. I was afraid that Callie was not going to like it since she is used to bowling with a ramp, but Nate helped her push the ball down the lane and she did really well.
On Sunday we took the kids to a park to play. Callie was in heaven. She hadn't been out to a park since like October. The girls had a lot of fun playing together.
Monday we went to the "zoo" in Las Vegas. It was a total of 3 acres. Very small, but I think the kids still had fun.
They also sold bird seed so you could feed all the birds around the zoo.
On Monday evening we went out to dinner and visited with Brandon. It was good to see him. We hadn't seen him in over a year (since Dec 2009). Here is a picture of the boys at dinner.
It took Callie a little while to warm up to him, but after she did she was just talking his ear off. I am not sure how much he understood.
